WHY ORANGE VALLEY HILLS
"A couples-first hill resort in Vagamon, Kerala — designed around privacy, slow mornings, and the kind of quiet honeymoons get hard to find."
The only first-floor suite in the property — private balcony, valley views, no connecting rooms, no foot traffic past your door.
Gated entry, set back from main-road traffic, large enough that couples genuinely feel alone — even when fully booked.
Couple Package includes candlelight dinner, welcome arrangement, and breakfast for two. Add a Pine Forest sunrise walk (5 km) or Mottakkunnu sunset (7 km).
Less crowded year-round. 1,100m elevation. A 30-minute shorter drive from Kochi. Hill romance without traffic, viewpoint queues, and tour buses.
"Mist over the valley at 1,100m — the first thing you see from the balcony each morning."
THE HONEYMOON SUITE
The Premium Villa Room is the only first-floor accommodation at Orange Valley Hills. The private balcony overlooks the surrounding valleys, the layout is built for two, and the location ensures no foot traffic past your door.
HONEYMOON PACKAGES
Two package tiers, no hidden inclusions, no on-arrival surprises. Both built around the Premium Villa Room.

ON-PROPERTY
Most of the moments couples remember from a honeymoon happen on the property — not at attractions. Here's what your stay looks like.
A private dinner setup on a chosen evening — on the quieter side of the restaurant, on your balcony, or in a private outdoor setting.
Your room is set up before you walk in — flower arrangement, fruit basket, and a welcome drink at reception.
Private campfire in a quiet corner of the grounds, not the main lawn. Vagamon evenings drop to 10–15°C in winter — the fire is genuinely useful.
Coffee on the Premium Villa balcony is the most-photographed moment of most stays here. Breakfast can be arranged on the balcony at no extra cost.
Vagamon's low light pollution makes the night sky exceptional — particularly between November and February. Bring a warm layer; nights drop to 10°C.
Open during posted hours, with views across the surrounding valleys. Mornings and late afternoons are the quietest. Not temperature-controlled — invigorating in winter.
AROUND VAGAMON
Every spot below is within a 5–10 km drive — easy half-day trips between slow mornings at the villa.
~5 KM · SUNRISE
The quintessential Vagamon honeymoon moment — mist between the trees in early morning. Cool, shaded, easy walking paths. Arrive before 9 AM to beat the day-trip crowds.
~7 KM · SUNSET
The best sunset point in Vagamon. 360° views, 10-minute walk from the parking. Sit on the open meadow and watch the light change. Bring a light jacket.
5-10 KM · MORNING
Open grasslands stretching across rolling hills. Free to walk through. The "Scotland of Asia" nickname comes from here. Photogenic across all seasons.
~6 KM · HERITAGE
The Mountain of the Cross — featuring the Kurisumala Ashram by architect Laurie Baker. Quieter than Pine Forest. Continuous valley views on the walk up.
5-10 KM · DRIVE
Rolling tea plantations established in 1926. Drive slowly through, stop for photos, walk in with permission. The most recognizable honeymoon setting in Kerala.
~10 KM · ADVENTURE
India's longest cantilever glass bridge, over a forested valley. One memorable stop. Entry ticketed. Combine with a tea garden visit on the same trip.
HONEST COMPARISON
"Honest comparison from a resort that benefits if you choose Vagamon — but we'll tell you when Munnar is the better fit."
| FACTOR | 🌿 VAGAMON | 🍃 MUNNAR |
|---|---|---|
| Distance from Kochi | ~94 km, 2.5–3 hours | ~130 km, 4–4.5 hours |
| Elevation | 1,100 m | ~1,600 m (slightly cooler) |
| Crowd density | Low to moderate | High, especially weekends |
| Property privacy | High — spread across acreage | Lower — clustered near town |
| Sightseeing variety | Moderate | High |
| Photography vibe | Open meadows, pine forests | Tea plantations, mountains |
| Honeymoon best for | Slow, private, soulful | Active, photogenic, classic |
| Average resort price | Mid-range | Mid to luxury |
For couples who want a focused, private, slow honeymoon — Vagamon wins. For couples who want activity, sightseeing, and classic Kerala scenery — Munnar wins. For couples who can't choose — do both, starting in Munnar (active) and ending in Vagamon (recovery). Most couples who do both prefer ending in Vagamon.
WHEN TO VISIT
Month-by-month guide for couples — including when off-season is actually the better choice.
Cool 10–22°C, clear skies, best views. December–January nights are cold enough to make the campfire genuinely useful. Book 8–12 weeks ahead — Premium Villa fills fastest.
Warm afternoons (18–26°C) but cool mornings and evenings. Less crowded, lower rates, longer daylight. Late May brings "mango showers" — vivid green without disruptions.
Most sites say skip it. We say it's underrated. Vagamon transforms — misty valleys all day, electric green meadows, ~25% lower rates, almost private property. Best for rain-loving couples.
Monsoon tapering, rates still lower, greenery at peak intensity, mist in mornings, crowds not yet arrived. Many experienced Kerala travellers consider this the actual best window.
